COVID-19 and Social Security Disability

As time passes, we learn more and more that the road to recovery from COVID-19, is an arduous one; a drawn out marathon, more than a brisk sprint. Once the pneumonia specific to this virus has progressed, the rest of the body suffers collaterally, as every cell is starved of required oxygen.

Damage is seen not only in the lungs, but in the kidneys and heart, and brain, leaving few to experience failure or permanent damage in these same organs once leaving the hospital. From the variety of symptoms adults must contend with, so now is it being discovered that children are now suffering too. PIMS or Pediatric Inflammatory Multisystem Syndrome, may cause long term heart damage in children.

Employment, concurrent to one’s recovery efforts may not be possible for some. There are reports of post COVID-19 patients having to relearn to walk, talk and not only eat but swallow as well.
